CAREER CAFE IS:
Career Café is a group that will be run during lunch one time a week by the Grade 6 School Counselor Miss.Cotela. Grade 6 students will be selected to participate based on careers they specified that they would like to learn more about or by the sign up sheet. Students will have lunch with the counselor and learn more information about the "Career of the week." Students will discuss, different skills associated with the specified career, they will review the job description, learn about the educational requirements, review careers related to the chosen career and discuss the average annual income in CT of that profession. During Career Café students will receive refreshments; please contact me if you would not like your child to participate. Students can sign up for Career Café (sign up sheet located on my door). Not all will be able to attend each week, due to space restraints, an average of 5-6 students will be invited weekly. Students will be invited to Career Café and can not come without a pass. If there is a career that has strong interest, it is possible that the career will run two/three weeks in a row, Brochures for the career of the week will also be available for students to take. Brochures will be located outside of the counselors office. Students can take brochures to learn about and compare different career options even if they do not participate in Career Cafe. Career Café groups run during lunch are optional and no student will be forced to partake.
This group will not begin until October, I am in the process of creating the schedule and brochures.
